On July 7, 2020 a transport left the Chatham-Kent Canadian Food for Children for the main CFFC warehouse in Mississauga warehouse packed to the top with needed donated items for the poor.
Because of the generosity of Gleaners of Leamington, the transport carried approximately 16 thousand pounds of dried vegetable soup mix which will provide nutrition for close to 150,000 children and adults in need.
Along with this food, we were able to send blankets, bedding and linens, family boxes containing dishes, cutlery, toothpaste, brushes as well as shoes for adults and children. To top off the load many wheelchairs, walkers and clothing were also included.
Dr. Simone has informed us that 40 foot containers are being sent out to Haiti, El Salvador, Guatemala, Zambia, Malawi and Liberia at this time.
Our donors have been generous during this time of Covid 19 lock down and we have been able to send $40,000 to purchase food and help cover the cost of shipping.
Andrew and Joan Simone send a grateful and sincere acknowledgement of your donation.
